As you have almost certainly heard by now, Matthew Stafford has requested to be traded from the Detroit Lions and the Lions are going to do what they can to make that happen.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the timeline of Stafford first telling the Lions that he wants out up until the Lions agreeing to it is as follows.
NFL rules permit any offseason trades from being completed or processed until the new league calendar begins in March.
What Holmes, Wood and Campbell told Stafford is that they would consider trade offers, with the likely conclusion being that Stafford would be dealt. Fwiw, I don't think there's animosity here.
Stafford's agent, Tom Condon, is in the loop, and the Lions plan to field all offers.

As a Lion fan I am disappointed with the way that this is playing out. I believe that the Ford family owe it to Matthew Stafford, to not only get this right but not go down that path of past blunders and selfishness, I’m already not liking the Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell hire. We can not take another year of losing and not making the playoffs a great visionary coach or GM can see that the lions are only a couple of pieces away on Defense from making the playoffs, but hey I’m just a fan my opinion don’t count.
