Two-time Super Bowl winning defensive end Trey Flowers arrived in the Motor City via free agency in 2019. And while he appeared in 15 games last season, he was limited to only seven games this season due to injury suffered in Week 8.
Detroit’s season came to a close yesterday with a loss against the Minnesota Vikings. And as players and team personnel depart for an uncertain offseason, they’re left wondering what went wrong with yet another campaign that began with promise and expectations.
According to Flowers, things didn’t go wrong – they weren’t right from the start.

As far as his injury is concerned, Flowers confirmed it was indeed a fractured arm – however, he won’t be needing offseason surgery. Unfortuantely, the pain was too great to appear on the field.

Trey Flowers said between doctors, staff and him collectively felt it wasn't the best option for him to play yet.
Said he's still healing from his injury. If he could have played without pain, it would have been a different conversation.

Trey Flowers said if the Lions higher-ups ask for his opinions, he'll give it.
He said he trusts Rod Wood's process and likes what he's doing putting people in place.

Flowers has three years remaining on the $90 million deal he signed in 2019.
