Western Michigan University suspends all athletic activities

Western Michigan University has made the call today to suspend all athletic activity after several positive COVID-19 tests across multiple teams were reported.

WMU Associate Athletic Director Robin Hook confirmed the news.

“I don’t have the info on how many are being quarantined, but it’s not just football,” Hook said. “There are quarantines for several student-athletes at this point, which is the reason (for the suspension) more so than the positive tests — the quarantining of student-athletes because of the contact tracing.

“It’s more that than it is the positive tests. There have been positive tests, but it’s more so the quarantining of student-athletes who have been in contact with the few that have tested positive.”

The end of the suspension date is unclear at this point.
