1997 Stanley Cup Finals introductions from Budd Lynch at Joe Louis Arena [VIDEO]

The Detroit Red Wings had experienced 42 years of heartbreak since they had last carried the Stanley Cup in 1955. Decades of futility compiled with near misses equaled an ever growing feeling of hopelessness within the fan base, who had yearned to finally be on the winning side of things again.

Thankfully, all of that was reversed in June of 1997 when Detroit swept the Philadelphia Flyers in four straight games to capture their first championship in what seemed like several lifetimes.

You can bet Joe Louis Arena was rocking prior to Game 3 of the championship series. For a great trip down memory lane, let’s take a look back at the team introductions by the late great Budd Lynch, the voice of home games in Detroit for generations.
