The 2020 NFL trade deadline is now less than two weeks away and the Detroit Lions will have some big decisions to make. If the Lions win their next two games (very possible) they would be sitting at 4-3 and they could end up being buyers at the deadline. But, if they lose one or both of their next two games leading up to the Nov. 3 deadline, they will likely be listening to offers with the intent of selling.
On Wednesday, Chris Burke and Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic put together a piece title “Lions trade tiers: Which players could be on the move?” in which they looked at a plethora of Lions’ players and weighed the likelihood of them being traded.
What we found the most interesting was the “Possible, with the right offer” category which included six Lions players.
Here is a list of the players who Burk and Baumgardner included in that category.
- Oday Aboushi, G (unrestricted free agent, $1.05 million base salary)
- Jarrad Davis, LB (unrestricted free agent, $1.96 million base salary)
- Kerryon Johnson, RB (signed through 2021, $1.07 million base salary in 2020)
- Marvin Jones, WR (unrestricted free agent, $6.5 million base salary)
- Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB (unrestricted free agent, $825,000 base salary)
- Bo Scarbrough, RB (exclusive-rights free agent, $675,000 base salary)
Of the players listed above, the two that I believe will get the most attention as the deadline approaches are Davis and Jones.
Davis has seen limited action in 2020 but he has played well (even very well at times) when called upon. He flies to the ball and though he has become somewhat of an outcast in Detroit, I would not be surprised if the Lions could snag a 6th round pick for him if the right team bites.
Heading into the season, my hope was that Jones Jr. would ball out and that the Lions could then trade him for a 3rd round pick or so. Unfortunately, that has not happened and though I still believe there will be interest, my guess would be that the Lions will get a 5th round pick in return if they trade Jones Jr. That being said, if a couple of teams get in on the action, maybe getting a 4th round pick is possible.
Nation, which of the players listed above do you think will be traded before the Nov. 3 deadline?
