On Sunday, the bowl game slate was revealed and it was announced that Michigan will be playing in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1, while Michigan State, who finished with a better record than the Wolverines AND beat them head-to-head, will be playing in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28.

Following the announcement, Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio seemed a bit salty that the Wolverines were selected for a New Year’s Day game over his team.

“I don’t worry about that. I am just focused on the Holiday Bowl game. I’ll just continue to focus on beating Michigan and let things sort out.” Dantonio said.

Dantonio was not the only one frustrated (though he tried to say the right things later) as Spartans fans everywhere also took to Twitter to complain about Michigan getting selected over Michigan State.

Well, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh caught wind of Dantonio’s comments and he could not resist firing back at his rival.

“Saw Coach D comments on continuing to “focus” on how “he” can beat Michigan. Congrats on turning around a 3-9 team, plagued with off field issues. Good for B1G to have him back.” Harbaugh tweeted.

Harbaugh, of course, is referring to the 2016 season in which the Spartans finished with a 3-9 record, including a loss to Michigan, and the numerous off-the-field problems MSU has had over the past year or so, including having multiple players kicked off the team.

Since coming to Michigan, Harbaugh is only 1-2 against Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans and you can bet he will be looking to improve on that record beginning in 2018.

Until then, it’s the Spartans who have the bragging rights in this state!
