Yes, you read that title correctly.
During a conference call on Wednesday, Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila was asked by a reporter if he thought the Tigers are capable of competing for an American League postseason spot in 2020.
His answer was bold and to the point.
You talk to the staff, you talk to the players, you see how it was going in spring training before it was shut down and yes, we all feel we have a chance to be a playoff team in a shortened season, for sure,” Avila said.
Nation, has Avila lost his mind or is this just GM speak?
Al Avila: "You talk to the staff, you talk to the players, you see how it was going in spring training before it was shut down and yes, we all feel we have a chance to be a playoff team in a shortened season, for sure."
Playoffs are probably a stretch. But this is gonna be weird
