Detroit Catholic Central have been one of the major stalwarts in Michigan high school football. The school have won 11 state titles and have backed up their place within the state with a 13-1 campaign this past year, albeit ending with a 49-20 loss to Detroit Cass Tech in the state championship. All of the success Detroit CC have had can be rooted back to the 41-year reign of head coach Tom Mach.
After 41 years, Mach has decided to retire from coaching; leaving behind a 370-97 win record and ten state titles.

Detroit Catholic Central released a press statement regarding the longtime head coach’s departure:
“We will miss him and will continue to be inspired by his loyalty, commitment, and fidelity to our common values,” school president Fr. John Huber said in a released statement. “Indeed, his shoes will be difficult to fill. We will be very careful and diligent in our search for a new coach. We thank Tom and his wife Lynn for all that they have done for Detroit Catholic Central, and wish them many happy years ahead.”
