Brett Favre believes Aaron Rodgers won’t finish career with Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre has offered his thoughts on the direction that his former team decided to take during last week’s NFL Draft.

The Packers took former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, leading to speculation that they could be setting the stage to move on from Aaron Rodgers, and that his days in Green Bay could be numbered. Of course, Favre was supplanted in Green Bay by Rodgers over a decade ago, and decided to go elsewhere to continue his career.

And now, Favre believes that history will be repeating itself.

“I think he will play somewhere else,” Favre said on The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday. “It’s not Aaron’s job to mentor Jordan Love. (But) I guarantee you (the Love pick) got the gears going in Aaron’s mind. If that’s the case, then that means there’s a chip on his shoulder toward the organization that otherwise was not there. All he needs is a reason other than this reason to expedite that.”

Favre then said he’s spoken with Rodgers about the pick, and while he didn’t go into specifics, he acknowledged that there was surprise with Green Bay’s pick.

“I’m not going to talk about all that we talked about, but he was … let’s just say surprised that they went in that direction,” Favre said of his conversation with Rodgers.

Rodgers has two more years on the four year, $134 million contract he signed in August of 2018, and it would cost the Packers big time in terms of dead salary cap space if they were to pull the trigger on a move.

However, we certainly can’t overlook Favre’s comments.
