Chris Webber sounds off on Juwan Howard and Michigan coaching vacancy

Former University of Michigan basketball star Chris Webber has sounded off on whether or not former Fab-Five Juwan Howard should take over as Michiganโ€™s new head coach.

Heโ€™s all in!

During TNTโ€™s broadcast of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks, Webber alluded to Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo being in attendance before shifting the discussion to Michigan.

โ€œAll we need is to hire Juwan so we can take (Michigan State) out,โ€ Webber said.

โ€œThat almost seems like a no-brainer,โ€ replied Reggie Miller. โ€œWhoever is running things at Michigan, you can make some calls, but Juwan Howard needs to get that job there at Michigan.โ€

โ€œIt would be great for the whole university,โ€ Webber said. โ€œIt would bring everybody back together.โ€

Could Webber mean โ€œeverybody back togetherโ€ as an upcoming reunion of the Fab Five? While Webber has been back to Ann Arbor, it hasnโ€™t been in any official capacity with Michigan Basketball.

Meanwhile, former Wolverine Jalen Rose endorsed Howard for coach while speaking on his show โ€œJalen and Jacobyโ€.

โ€œI need for this to happen, OK?โ€ Rose said. โ€œThis ainโ€™t just some nostalgic, โ€˜Oh, he was a member of the Fab Five, so letโ€™s give him the job.โ€™ He was a terrific high school player, a McDonaldโ€™s All-American. He was a terrific performer at Michigan, a member of the Fab Five.

โ€œHe was an All-Star in the NBA, he was a champion. Heโ€™s not only learned under some of the best to do it, Erik Spoelstra, Pat Riley. He also has the blessing of John Beilein, who he spent a lot of time with. Of Steve Fisher, who he spent a lot of time with. โ€ฆ This is such a layup.โ€
