Is it time for the Detroit Lions to move on from Matthew Stafford?
That is a question that some have been asking for years and as the losses continue to pile up for the Lions, it is a question that more and more people have been bringing up.
One of those people, who happens to be a good friend of Stafford, is former Lions quarterback and current ESPN analyst, Dan Orlovsky.
In November, Orlovsky tweeted out a list of teams that should “gladly” trade for New York York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold if the cost is a 2nd and 5th round pick, and because it includes the Lions, the list really has me thinking.
Now, I really respect Orlovsky’s opinions, but I believe he has lost his mind on this one and it has nothing to do with me wanting to roll with Stafford in 2021. The reason why I would not make this deal is that I am not a big believer in Darnold. I think he is an average NFL quarterback who will never lead a team to the promised land.
If the Lions are going to move on from Stafford, they should select a quarterback with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

This makes no sense. A second and a fifth plus a mediocre QB for the best QB the Lions had since 57? Dan you are nuts! I’d make the trade only if we get their first round pick. At the very least swap first round picks and get their 2nd and 5th.
You may have forgotten but Tobin Rote was the QB in the 57 Championship Game against the Browns not Layne. Stafford is the Best Ever Lions QB without a doubt Layne may have been the best leader. though. Like Stafford Bobby was known for his late winning td’s.
How about this trade. Bears trade Nick Foles plus a draft choice to Philly for Carson Wentz Could work if Jalan Hurts does well over next 4 games.

No, stick with Stafford. Get him 3 pro bowl receivers any way you can. Offense fixed. This team has relied on a 1 receiver offense since calvin. Galiday is great but he has to be healthy. Have to get faster at the lb postion. Use draft picks on defense. Go from there.
