Detroit Lions’ LB Jarrad Davis mentioned as part of deadline trade

With the NFL trade deadline right around the corner, you can bet you are going to hear plenty of speculation regarding the Detroit Lions. The only question is, will they end up being buyers or sellers? That all depends on how they play over the next two weeks.

As we have mentioned before, one Lions player who could end up being traded is LB Jarrad Davis, who has left much to be desired since being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Though Davis has played well this season when he has been on the field, his reps have been extremely limited and he does not seem to be part of the plan moving forward.

In a piece recently published in The Athletic, Ed Bouchette and Mark Kaboly linked Davis as a potential trade target of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who just lost LB Devin Bush Jr. to a season-ending injury.

From The Athletic:

The former first-round pick fell out of favor in Detroit as his snaps have dwindled. Like many unemployed or rarely used inside linebackers, Davis is more of a run-blitzing, downhill, sure-tackling linebacker than a coverage linebacker, but he isn’t a liability in coverage either. Mike Tomlin loved him coming out of Florida in 2017. The Steelers had him in for a pre-draft visit that year. Tomlin loves to reconnect with players whether through trades or free agency after the fact. Davis is a free agent next year after the Lions declined his fifth-year option. Many believed the Steelers were going to draft him in the first round in 2017. Luckily for them, they didn’t and took T.J. Watt nine picks later.

We would not be surprised at all to see Davis traded before the deadline but don’t expect to get value in return.

Nation, has Davis’ time in Detroit run out?
