If you are a Detroit Lions fan who had your mind set on the team signing free agent running back LeGarrette Blount, you are about to be disappointed.

According to reports, the former New England Patriots RB will sign a 1-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lions general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Jim Caldwell have both expressed their confidence in their current situation at the running back position and it looks like that is what they intend to roll with for the 2017 season.

Many thought the Lions would select a running back in the NFL Draft, but that was not the case. Some believed Quinn was just waiting to sign Blount, but obviously, that was not in his plans either.

In 2016, Blount rushed for 1,161 yards and a league-best 18 touchdowns.

With Blount out of the picture, it seems almost certain that the Lions are planning on Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, and Zach Zenner carrying the load in 2017.
