Thanks to a perk the Detroit Lions offer season ticket holders, Ford Field may be more empty than usual for the final two home games of the 2019 season.
Prior to the season, the Lions released a new program for season ticket holders called, “Lionsurance.”
So Lions have a new program this year for season ticket holders called “Lionsurance.” If you’ve been to all 8 home games so far (including the 2 preseason games), if you skip the next two games, you’ll get a 50% credit, per seat, towards next year. May be more empty than usual.

Here is how the program works (Via Detroit Lions)
- All Season Ticket Members are automatically enrolled to participate
- To qualify, Season Ticket Members must attend 8 or more home games during the 2019 season*
- Qualifying accounts will be eligible to receive a credit to their 2020 season ticket renewal equal to ½ the Season Ticket Member ticket value assigned to the unused game ticket(s)
- To earn the 2020 season ticket renewal credit, members simply need to renew their 2020 season tickets and pay-in-full when season ticket invoices are issued in February of 2020
It’s a perk for season ticket holders who may not be able to go a game at the last minute, and thus couldn’t otherwise unload their seats to friends or on the secondary market. But it does sort of discourage people from showing up when the team is bad.

What this means is that any season ticket holder who attended both home preseason games and the first six home regular-season games can skip the final two games and receive a 50% saving per ticket when it comes to their 2020 season tickets.
With the Lions being 3-9-1, don’t be surprised to see some extra empty seats at Ford Field for the final two home games. The first of those games is Sunday when the Lions host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
