Detroit Lions trade up in latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft

After Sunday’s big win over the Atlanta Falcons, there are plenty of Detroit Lions fans who are starting to believe their team can make a run at the playoffs. Personally, with the advantageous schedule the Lions have over the next month or so, there is no reason why they cannot set themselves up nicely for the tough stretch they have to end the season.

That being said, while browsing Twitter this morning, I came across the latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft from The Draft Network and Trevor Sikkema has the Lions trading up for the No. 7 overall pick and then selecting LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase.

Here is what Sikkema has to say about the trade/pick.

TRADE: DET trades Nos. 11, 75 & 3rd in 2022 to MIA for Nos. 7, 96

The Miami Dolphins have plenty of picks, but that shouldn’t keep them from making a move if they believe it’s the right one. With the Dolphins needing a wide receiver and with Chase on the board, moving back could seem like a “what are they doing!?” kind of a move. But with this receiver class as stacked as it is, they could afford to move back just a few spots and still get a good one.

As for the Lions, as much as we talk about some potential defensive selections for them, wide receiver might be their most pressing and required need to address. As of right now, the only wide receiver on the books for 2021 is Quentez Cephus. You have to think this team will do what they need to do to bring Kenny Golladay back, but even then, they need more weapons.

Nation, there is a LONG way to go before we really start digging into the 2021 NFL Draft class and who would best fit the Lions but what are your thoughts on Ja’Marr Chase?
