The Dylan Larkin trade situation continues to develop, and a new report suggests the list of potential destinations may be growing.
According to a report from Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman and Larkin’s agent, Pat Brisson, have maintained open communication since news of the captain’s trade request became public. Rather than turning contentious, discussions between the two sides have reportedly remained professional and productive as they work toward a solution.
One notable development involves the list of teams Larkin would be willing to join.
When reports first surfaced, the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Minnesota Wild were believed to be the primary destinations on Larkin’s radar. However, that may no longer be the case.
According to LeBrun, Yzerman asked Brisson to expand the original list of acceptable trade destinations, and Brisson was reportedly receptive to that request.
That could significantly alter the landscape of any potential trade talks.
For the Red Wings, a larger pool of interested teams would create more opportunities to maximize the return for one of the NHL’s top centers. Larkin remains under contract through the 2030-31 season and owns a full no-trade clause, giving him substantial control over where he plays next.
While neither Larkin nor the organization has publicly commented on the situation, it appears both sides understand the importance of working together through the process.
