Detroit Tigers sign outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to minor-league deal

The Detroit Tigers have added depth to their roster.

They've signed outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to a minor-league contract with a non-roster invite to Spring Training in 2020.

He was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals as an international free agent in 2009. He later spent time with the Omaha Storm Chasers of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, and was also selected to appear in the 2016 All-Star Futures Game.

He made his MLB debut in 2017. In March of 2018, he was suspended 80 games without pay after testing positive for boldenone, an anabolic steroid derived from testosterone.

Through 2019, Bonifacio has hit .247 with 21 career home runs and 66 RBI's.
