The Detroit Lions defense is missing tackles at an exorbitant rate

It's no secret that the Detroit Lions defense isn't exactly lighting the world on fire in 2019 behind their head coach Matt Patricia, a former defensive coordinator.

But when you see the actual numbers behind the struggles, it may look far worse than expected.

The team has already surpassed their missed tackles total from last season (74) with 80, and we're just nine games deep in 2019. Their tackle grade is the fourth-worst this season in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

This equals out to around nine tackles missed per game. Of course, not the best look for a team whose defense was supposed to be a calling card.

Despite all of this, Patricia reiterated earlier this year that defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni isn't going anywhere despite the terrible defensive numbers.
