UPDATE:
With 3:02 remaining in the 3rd quarter, the Minnesota Vikings have already put up 369 yards on the Lions defense, which is more than enough to break the franchise record for most yards allowed in a single season.
ORIGINAL POST:
After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 47-7 on Saturday, the Detroit Lions now sit at 5-10 with one game remaining on their 2020 schedule.
The main reason (though there are plenty) for the Lions’ 10 losses this season, is their horrendous defense.
In fact, the Lions’ defense has not only been bad, it has been historically bad, allowing a whopping 6,208 yards through 15 games. That, my friends, is 413.9 yards per game!
When the Lions host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17, they will almost certainly break the franchise record of yards allowed in a season, as they are just 262 yards away from the current mark of 6,470 yards allowed in 2008.
The Lions probably are going to set a new franchise record next week for most yards allowed in a season. pic.twitter.com/GeuF8iYI9I

What is extremely sad about this stat is that two of the top four most pathetic defensive seasons came in seasons where “defensive guru” Matt Patricia started out as the head coach.
