GM Bob Quinn can’t come up with a timeline for Detroit Lions to have success

Bob Quinn is the general manager of the Detroit Lions – the man tasked with shaping and building a winning product on the field.

Unfortunately for him and the fans of the team, it hasn’t come to fruition. The 2019 season came to a merciful conclusion on Sunday afternoon with the team’s 12th loss out of 16 games, and they’ll once again be home on the couch watching the NFL playoffs.

Fans want to know when they’ll finally be able to root for their team in a meaningful playoff game – or even, a Super Bowl.

But according to Bob Quinn, there isn’t a timetable for the dream of generations of Lions fans to come true.

“That’s the money question, right?” Quinn during his season-ending news conference. “Appreciate it. I’m not going to put a timeline (on it) or a number of players (we need). There’s a lot of things we need to get better at. When you win three games, it’s not just one thing.”

Of course, that “one thing” could be the team defense, which was consistently ranked in the NFL’s basement for the entire season.

“We sit there every week and evaluate the games and look at the roster and look at the scheme and look at all of that,” Quinn continued. “And it was hard this year for us to point at one thing. I think it was hard for you (the media).

Sometimes if you have a poor year, you can just say, ‘If you had done that one thing different, you would have won 10 games.’ You can’t do that with this team. This was an abnormal year for us.”

Both Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia were told they must be contending for the playoffs next season. Right now, those quotes don’t exactly paint the brightest of pictures.
