The legendary Scotty Bowman, who won nine Stanley Cup championships as a head coach, guided the Red Wings to their first championship in 42 years, followed by a repeat in 1998 and again in 2002 before calling it a career.
After staring his coaching career with the St. Louis Blues, Bowman won five championships with the Montreal Canadiens throughout the 1970's. He later took over as bench boss for the Buffalo Sabres and then the Pittsburgh Penguins before coming to the Motor City in 1993.
He accepted a job as senior advisor of hockey operations with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2008 for the opportunity to work with his son Stan Bowman, the Blackhawks GM.
