We’ve all heard of and seen players brawling on the ice, but what about coaches being on the ice at the same time? That’s exactly what took place earlier this week during a matchup between the Carolina Thunderbirds and Columbus River Dragons of the Federal Prospects Hockey League!
During the third period, Columbus coach Jerome Bechard and Carolina coach Andre Niec starting jawing at one another, leading the players to get involved and start squaring off. Both coaches ended up on the ice, and at one point, Niec got his dress shirt ripped off.
All in all, 150 penalty minutes and multiple ejections were handed out, including both coaches.
The aftermath?
Bechard would receive a three-game suspension, while Niec has been banned for eight games. Nick Wright will serve a five game suspension, while forward M.J. Graham will serve a three game suspensions. Forward Will Laporte and goaltender Cody Karpinski were each given one game suspensions.
