It’s officially Ohio State week for the Michigan Wolverines.
For the first time since 1997, the Wolverines will host the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor with no more than one loss on the season. And they’ll be putting their 10-1 record to a major test. Of course, they improved to 10 wins thanks to today’s dismantling of the Maryland Terrapins in College Park.
And now, they’re looking for more.
“We’re in the position we wanted to — to be playing for the championship,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said immediately after the win.
The Wolverines once again went with the quarterback rotation, as Cade McNamara completed 21 of his 28 pass attempts for 259 yards and two touchdowns, while J.J. McCarthy went 5-for-5 with 58 yards and a touchdown. However, it was RB Donovan Edwards and his 170 receiving yards (the most of any Wolverine RB in a game) that set the tone for the offense.
“This is going to be a blip on the radar of (Edwards’) career,” Harbaugh said of Edwards. “He’s destined for great things.”
Harbaugh will be attempting for his first win against the Buckeyes since his return to Michigan in 2015.
“This is the position we wanted to be in,” he said. “We want to finish it. We want to win all the marbles, so we’re in the position we want to be in. We’ve been preparing for this really the entire year, and now bring that preparation to life this week.”
