You’re hurting, I’m hurting, heck I’ll bet Justin Verlander and Kate Upton are hurting. But this is a part of sports we have all dealt with again and again. Luckily in this day and age, players are able to connect with fans and in times like this, it means so much that they are able to reach out to us with their thoughts and wishes. Verlander did just that.

The video is a testament to what Verlander was and still is; a proud warrior. He remembers fighting to turn us into a winning franchise, how things were in Detroit when his run started, and now he’s looking forward to helping another city that is currently hurting.
The disaster in Houston is quite different from 2006 Detroit when Verlander, along with Kenny Rogers, Pudge Rodriguez, Magglio Ordonez, etc. turned the hapless Tigers into American League Champions. But it is a city in need of a good distraction from the horrors that currently surround it.
The Houston Astros were already a very good baseball team in 2017, leading the American League with a record of 80-53. But their dynamic duo of pitchers just became a triple threat as Verlander (10-8, 3.82 ERA, 176 Ks) joins Lance McCullers (7-3, 3.29 ERA, 118 Ks), and 2015 Cy Young Winner Dallas Keuchel (11-3, 2.91 ERA, 97 Ks) on the mound. And we all know 1-2-3 is what you need to contend for a World Series.
