Mark Dantonio felt that Tuesday was the right time to step down from the Michigan State football program so that is exactly what he did.

The official announcement, which caught many by surprise, came via a tweet from Dantonio himself.
On Tuesday night, at halftime of the Michigan State vs. Penn State basketball game, Dantonio gave a short farewell speech to the Spartan fans in attendance.
Coach D kept it short and sweet.
