With kicker Kenny Allen graduated and moving on, the Michigan Wolverines have a noticeable hole in the special teams department. But on Wednesday, they were able to secure a commit from the nation’s top punter.

Robbins, according to the Fab50 top high school punters in the country, is the No. 1 overall player at that position. He stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds out of Westerville, Ohio. Robbins had been committed to the University of Nevada going back to October of 2016. He made a visit to the University of Illinois just less than a week ago; the school offered him a scholarship on the 23rd. But Michigan extended an offer to him on Wednesday and he wasted no time in accepting.
With the addition of Robbins, Michigan now has two kickers on scholarship for the 2017 season. Last off-season, they got a commit from Quinn Nordin, who at the time was rated the No. 1 kicker for the Class of 2016. The pledge from Robbins ups the total number of commits for Michigan in 2017 to 29.
