OVERALL RECORD: 16-7, 6-4 Horizon
Every team hits a rough patch during the season. Oakland is going through one run night now, having lost four of their last six. They needed overtime to down Milwaukee and halt a three-game home losing streak And after getting boat raced by Wright State (again) and losing at home to Green Bay, this now creates a serious log jam at the top half of the Horizon League standings.
What could easily be the difference in their recent stretch of games has been their outside shooting. Over the last five, the Grizzlies are 20 for 95 from three-point land, barely 21 percent in that department. Conversely, their five opponents during that stretch are shooting close to 32 percent from downtown (35/110). Outside of that, they’re playing typical Oakland basketball – rebounding well, making extra passes, shooting solid overall. The three ball just hasn’t been there.
Is it the difference? Perhaps not, but it is definitely a major factor. A couple extra made 3s here and there coupled with some stops on defense or limiting the opponent to a 3 of their own and the results can vary. Oakland will look to find their groove from behind the arc in this upcoming schedule:
