The Michigan State Spartans found a way to defeat Maryland 19-16 this afternoon in front of approximately 20,000 fans at Spartan Stadium to officially become bowl eligible – likely either the Pinstripe Bowl in New York or the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit.
Matt Coghlin kicked four field goals for the Spartans, who also got a single touchdown courtesy of a sneak by Lewerke with 3:08 to play in the second half. Lewerke finished 30 of 40 for 342 yards.
