Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston’s brother dies after being hit by train

We have some unfortunate news to report as Zachary Winston, the brother of Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston has died after being hit by a train.

From Detroit Free Press:

Winston’s brother, Zachary, was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Albion, sources confirmed to the Free Press on Sunday morning.

WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo reported the Wolverine Train 355 struck a pedestrian around 8:25 p.m. on the tracks near Erie Street in Albion. The Albion Department of Public Safety identified the victim as an Albion College student and said he family had been contacted, the station reported.

Zachary Winston, a 19-year old University of Detroit Jesuit High graduate, was a sophomore on the Division III Albion men’s basketball team along with youngest brother, Khy. The Britons played Cassius and No. 1 MSU in an exhibition game on Oct. 29, but Zachary did not play due to an injury.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Zachary Winston during this most difficult time.
