MLB Trade Rumors suggests two potential replacements for Tigers 1B C.J. Cron

The Detroit Tigers could be facing the possibility of playing the remainder of the season without 1B C.J. Cron, who was injured after taking a line drive to the left leg on Monday night against the Chicago White Sox.

While Cron is still in a knee brace waiting to be re-evaluated, a season-ending surgery could be the only viable option for his recovery.

If that indeed proves to be the case, the Tigers could be looking outside the organization to help fill the gap. According to MLB Trade Rumors, there are two potential possibilities that the Tigers could turn to if Cron is out long term.

The first suggestion is veteran Logan Morrison, who was recently designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 28 plate appearances this season with the Brewers, he’s hit .120/.214/.280 with three hits. Since making his MLB debut in 2010 with the Florida Marlins, he’s hit 140 home runs with a total of 426 RBI.

The second suggestion is Greg Bird, who was also recently DFA’d by the Texas Rangers. Bird is a promising young talent, though his biggest issue is being injury prone. Since making his MLB debut in 2015 with the New York Yankees, he’s hit 32 home runs with 98 RBI.

Tigers fans, if Cron is out long term, would either of these outside options be viable for you?

BONUS CONTENT: A’s Ramon Laureano has harsh words for Astros hitting coach

The Houston Astros are already facing some justice being taken into the hands of the players themselves following their well-documented sign-stealing scandal.

On Sunday, they got into it with the Oakland Athletics after outfielder Ramon Laureano was hit by a pitch. He immediately got into it with the Astros bench after getting to first base, most notably with Astros coach Alex Cintron; both benches soon cleared.

Afterwards, Laureano had some harsh words for Cintron, saying that he regretted his actions – but not for the reason you might think. Check out what he had to say:

“I regret charging him because he’s a loser,” he said.

Laureano, a former Astros prospect, was hit three times during the series. The third time was the charm – and he’d had enough. Apparently, Cintron said something about Laureano’s mother, prompting the fireworks:
