It’s always nice to see athletes work as a unit to raise awareness for social issues. The MSU athletic department is banding together in order to advance race relations in our culture by taking the pledge to RISE. Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE) is an organization set to mobilize the professional and amateur sports world to do just that. The mission statement is below followed by the Spartan athlete pledge. Always nice to report some news for the common good!
The Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE) is an unprecedented alliance of professional sports leagues, organizations, athletes, educators, media networks and sports professionals using sports to bring people together to promote understanding, respect and equality. Through public awareness campaigns and educational programming, RISE aims to improve race relations.
