If you happened to tune in for Tuesday night’s Wild Card game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, you may have seen Giancarlo Stanton rip a Nathan Eovaldi pitch that just about everybody thought would go over the Green Monster at Fenway Park.
In fact, Stanton himself went into his home run trot before realizing the ball hit off the big green wall and fell back to the field of play. Had he been running hard out of the box, the Yankees slugger may have had himself a double, but instead, Stanton had to settle for a long single.
But one person who took his confusion to a whole new level was Yankees play-by-play announcer, John Sterling.
Take a listen as Sterling rattles off one of his famous home run calls before realizing something was wrong.
This is great!
John Sterling has to retire after this one..
