Well, any good feelings following Tuesday night’s victory over the Edmonton Oilers were blown away by the Carolina Hurricanes – in decisive fashion.
The Detroit Red Wings dropped to 4-9-1 on the season with last night’s 7-3 drubbing at the hands of the upstart Hurricanes, who feature former Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek. With the loss, Detroit has now lost five straight contests away from Little Caesars Arena, and nine of their last 10 overall.
The Hurricanes were led by forward Sebastien Aho, who scored twice and added an assist. Carolina also got goals from Andrei Svechnikov, Nino Neiderreiter, Martin Necas, Brock McGinn and Teuvo Teravainen.
Anthony Mantha scored twice for Detroit, while Tyler Bertuzzi also tallied. Jimmy Howard made 16 saves on 21 shots before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier, who stopped 11 of 12. Mrazek made 29 saves for Carolina.
