The Detroit Red Wings will return home for another three-game homestand tonight when the Winnipeg Jets come to town.
This is the first matchup of the season between the two teams, they play once in Detroit and once in Winnipeg.
Tonight's Red Wings player to watch: Andrew Copp
Copp will take on his former team the Winnipeg Jets, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL draft with the 104th pick. In his career for Winnipeg, he appeared in 467 games scoring 74 goals and 110 assists for 184 points.
Last season at the deadline he got traded from the Jets to the New York Rangers. In his first game against the Jets, he had two assists for two points against his former club. Copp is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, who signed with his hometown team this past offseason.
Heading into this one Copp's career numbers are 521 games, 85 goals, 138 assists, and 223 points. Since joining the Wings, Copp has scored three goals and has 18 assists for 21 points in 38 games.
Copp has been shuffled around the lineup, appearing on all four lines. For tonight's game, he is projected to center the Wings' second line alongside Michael Rasmussen and Jonatan Berggren. Look for Copp to play with a little edge against his former club and help try to get the Wings back in the win column.
