The 2021 NBA Draft is less than a week away and the Detroit Pistons currently hold the No. 7 overall pick in the first round.
The question is, will the Pistons stick at No. 7 or will they make a trade.
Well, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN, the Pistons are among the teams who are candidates to trade the Golden State Warriors for their No. 2 overall pick.
Givony notes that the Warriors have been discussing trades that would land them with a “starting-caliber” frontcourt player along with a top 10 pick.
“The Warriors actively have been discussing trades, including scenarios that would net them a starting-caliber frontcourt player along with a pick in the top 10,” writes Givony. “The Bulls, Pistons and Knicks are among the candidates to trade up to No. 2.”
If the Pistons were to make this trade, the frontcourt players they would likely give up is F Blake Griffin.
According to Givony, the Minnesota Timberwolves will select PG LaMelo Ball with the No. 1 overall pick, so the Pistons would have to really like another player (think Georgia G Anthony Edwards and Memphis C James Wiseman) in order to pull the trigger on a deal with the Warriors.
