San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis is currently on the injured list and when he returns, it sounds like he will have a new position.
According to reports, Tatis, who is currently on the 10-day IL with a shoulder injury, has been preparing to play in the outfield when he returns to the Padres.
From San Diego Union-Tribune:
“When it is decided, he’s going to be good out there,” Padres outfield coach Wayne Kirby said a few minutes later. “He’ll be at the top of the food chain.”
There are still some things to be worked out and worked on, but it appears the player who started at shortstop for the National League in the All-Star Game is well on his way toward becoming the Padres’ newest outfielder.
“If you see him and Trent (Grisham) in the outfield, you’ll be like, ‘Wow. Big Wow.’” Kirby said. “That’s two Gold Gloves.”
When Tatis suffered his latest injury, there was speculation that it could end his 2021 season. Now, it appears as if he will be back with the Padres this season.
