2. DARIUS SLAY
Cornerback Darius Slay has been the MVP on defense for the Lions this season and is living up to the nickname “Big Play Slay.” Slay has come up clutch for the Lions on several occasions, with two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and 13 passes defended. For those concerned with the hamstring injury that kept him out of the Dallas game, Slay played in 92 percent of Detroit’s defensive snaps against Green Bay and held the red-hot Jordy Nelson to six receptions for 66 yards.
Slay has turned nearly every receiver he has faced this season into a ghost. He will likely be covering Seakhawks wideout Doug Baldwin for most of the game Saturday, and there is no reason to think that Slay won’t shut down Baldwin either. Outside of Slay, Detroit’s cornerbacks are shaky. But if Slay does his part and shuts down Baldwin, that could keep Russell Wilson and Seattle’s offense off of the field.
