Following a 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day, the Detroit Lions season is officially over.

Ok, it’s not technically over as the Lions do have four (meaningless) games remaining on their regular-season schedule but at 3-8-1, they have been eliminated from playoff contention.
With absolutely nothing to play for, here are three moves the Lions should make immediately.
Place T.J. Hockenson on IR

During Thursday’s loss to the Bears, Hockenson got his ankle caught up under a defender and the fear is that he suffered a high ankle sprain. If Hock’s injury requires him to miss even one game, I believe the Lions should cut their losses and place the rookie on IR rather than risk it.
Name David Blough starting QB

One of the only bright spots for the Lions on Thanksgiving Day was third-string QB, David Blough. The rookie was forced into action when backup Jeff Driskel suffered a hamstring injury last week against the Washington Redskins. On the first pass completion of his career, Blough connected with WR Kenny Golladay for a 75-yard TD. With the season over, it would be wise for the Lions to see exactly what Blough has to offer.
Place Matthew Stafford on IR

I have been saying it now for two weeks…THE LIONS NEED TO PLACE MATTHEW STAFFORD ON IR! Stafford is the most important player in the Detroit Lions organization and he has been for some time now. A broken back is nothing to mess around with and though Stafford is a warrior and wants to play, the Lions have to make the smart decision and end his season.
