AJ Hinch says Detroit Tigers won’t accept continuous losing

The Detroit Tigers offense continues to sputter.

They were shut out for the third time this season, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Kansas City Royals in which they struck out 13 times. They've now lost nine of their past ten games, and have scored a total of 18 runs during that stretch.

If that's not maddening, then we don't know what is.

Skipper A.J. Hinch agrees, saying what the fans are all thinking of these recent stretch of futility. However, he followed it up with a declaration of non-acceptance.

“We’re in the trenches together,” said Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. “We’ve all gone through it if you’ve been in this game, and it’s aggravating, it’s maddening, it’s frustrating, everything you can think of. We’re not going to accept it. I mean, it’s not something that the guys are just blowing off and coming back to the ballpark the next day. We’re trying to find solutions.”

According to Hinch, Detroit's inability to find the win column isn't from a lack of effort.

“Their intent is good. Their give-a-(bleep) is good. They’re up there trying to make an adjustment. Nobody wants to go up there and swing and miss all the time. You see the frustration after a swing and miss. That’s a reflection of the effort they’ve put in and the expectation that they have.”

Miguel Cabrera returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a bicep strain on April 11, but went 0-4 with three strikeouts.

The Royals will go for the sweep tomorrow, having taken the first three of this four-game set. Spencer Turnbull will take the mound for Detroit.

  1. Aj , you got too many outfielders. Play your best. Get a set line up too many changes. How does a player get a rhythm? Goodrum is your BEST shortstop, Jones is your BEST centerfield why you put him in left??? Schoop not a first baseman. he’s your BEST second baseman. MAKE the guys take extra batting practice. Look at their batting stances like Harold Castro his bat is not ready about 3/4 ready when pitch is delivered. Problem is too many changes.
