Lions WR Anquan Boldin reportedly considering retirement

Although Anquan Boldin expressed interest in returning for a 15th NFL season recently, he is reportedly considering retirement, per Kyle Meinke of mLive.

Boldin turns 37 this year, but had a productive 2016 season with the Detroit Lions. He led the team with eight touchdown receptions and had 67 receptions overall. He was a go-to guy for Matthew Stafford on third downs and in the red zone. There has been speculation that Boldin could return to the Lions in 2017, but Boldin has not decided whether or not he will continue his career.

“I mean, I’m definitely interested. But for me, it’s seeing what opportunities lie there, going over them with my wife, because any decision I make does not just affect me. But it affects my wife, my two boys. So it’s something I have to take into consideration.” -Anquan Boldin on possible return to Detroit.

If Boldin does return for another season, he will have a chance to move to fourth place on the all-time receptions list. He is currently 27 receptions short of fourth place and is behind Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, and Jason Witten.
