‘Best scheme fit’ for Kenny Golladay may surprise you

As we know, Kenny Golladay will not be a member of the Detroit Lions when the 2021 season begins as the Lions have elected not to use the franchise tag or resign him.

So, the question now is, where will Golladay play in 2021?

In a piece recently published on ESPN.com, Matt Bowen takes a look at the best scheme fits for free agents across the league, including a landing spot for Golladay that may surprise some.

Bowen believes the best landing spot for Golladay is the Baltimore Ravens to play alongside quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Here is what Bowen has to say about the fit. (Though he obviously does not know how to spell Golladay’s name)

Best scheme fit: Ravens | 2020 team: Lions | Age: 27

With the need to bolster the pass game in Baltimore to make a serious run in the playoffs, the Ravens should make a run at Golliday and give quarterback Lamar Jackson a proven No.1 wide receiver with the route-running traits, size/catch radius and scoring upside to create more pass-game production.

The Lions should be in on trying to re-sign Golliday, too, and we could see both the Colts and the Patriots in the mix as well.

There has been plenty of speculation about Golladay landing with the Ravens, but to say it is the best fit is interesting.

First of all, Golladay is more of a deep ball threat and Lamar Jackson is not a great deep ball passer. In addition, Golladay, though great at making contested catches, does not get a lot of separation and Jackson is not exactly the best throwing QB so that could present a problem.

Personally, I think Golladay is a very good talent but I am not so sure that pairing him with Jackson is a match made in Heaven.
