Bob Probert’s family spreads his ashes in Joe Louis Arena penalty box

The Detroit Red Wings welcomed over 90 team alumni back to say goodbye to Joe Louis Arena on Sunday, and among those in attendance was the family of former Wings enforcer Bob Probert.

Probert suffered a heart attack on Lake St. Clair in the summer of 2010 and passed away at the young age of 45. “Probie” spent 8 seasons in Detroit, and racked up more than 3,300 penalty minutes in his career. Perhaps nobody else ever felt more at home in the Joe Louis Arena penalty box than Bob Probert. Which is why according to a report from WXYZ Detroit, Probert’s family brought his ashes to spread around the JLA penalty box.

Now, the Red Wings haven’t confirmed this action but if it’s true, it’s a great way to honor Probert and his legacy at Joe Louis Arena.

  1. He was nothing but a goon. His numbers showed it. If Mr I didnt buy his way across border after being caught with coke he would have never stayed in hockey. He died of enlarged heart we all know what that was from, sniff sniff. He was not too be admired for anything, I don’t and didn’t want my kids looking up too that ! Steve Y , Kozlov , Draper, Vernon , etc where real hero’s of that time. Attaching his name too a charity bike ride for a bunch of SOA wanna-be doesn’t change any of those fact’s..So cry away with your reply’s.
