Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia’s job security with Detroit Lions wavering according to Doug Karsch

According to 97.1 The Ticket’s Doug Karsch, Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia should not feel too comfortable when it comes to their current job security.

“I don’t think they (the Lions) are locked into this crew based on the conversations I had earlier in the week,” Karsch said Friday on the Karsch and Anderson Show on 97.1 The Ticket.

Since taking over as head coach of the Lions in 2018, Patricia has had more than his share of criticism, both for his game management skills (or lack thereof) and for not being able to finish off an opponent when the Lions had a fourth-quarter lead.

Quinn has also taken his fair share of criticism, especially after his most recent roster move where he traded safety Quandre Diggs and a seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth-round pick. The trade not only upset the fan base but also players who are currently on the Lions roster, including cornerback Darius Slay, who was clearly upset about Quinn’s decision to trade a team captain who was well-respected in the locker room.

From Detroit Free Press:

Slay, who expressed his disappointment with the trade on Twitter immediately after it went down, said he still felt “like (expletive)” Thursday.

“We’ve been playing together five years,” Slay said. “Shoot, team captain, so I mean, for that to happen it’s kind of crazy but I guess that’s the business part of it. That was crazy, though.”

“It basically say it don’t matter who you is,” Slay said. “No matter how much you put in, at the end of the day it’s a business so that’s how I just look at it. Nobody’s safe, in my opinion.”

Though we have not heard any other information about Quinn’s or Patricia’s job security, Doug Karsch is a well-respected media member who is not known for making false statements.

Nation, would you be in favor of the Lions moving on from the current regime.
