In a surprising move, Detroit Red Wings’ coach Jeff Blashill has confirmed that he and Steve Yzerman have deciced not to have a Captain this season.
Instead, Dylan Larkin, Justin Abdelkader, Frans Nielsen, and Luke Glendening have been names alternates.
Blashill said he talked with Steve Yzerman and they agreed it's better not to name a captain until the new GM gets to know the team better so they'll start with 4 alternates. He said they reserve the right to change their mind.
