Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize turned in another strong performance this afternoon in the 1st of a double header against the Houston Astros, throwing six innings of one-run ball and throwing 66 strikes with seven strikeouts.
In doing so, he became the first Tigers rookie in over four decades to allow three earned runs or less in 11 straight starts:
Casey Mize is the first Tigers rookie with 11 consecutive starts with 3 ER or fewer since Dave Rozema in 1977.
His 10 quality starts leads all rookies.
He allowed 1 ER in 13 IP vs the Astros this season, baseball’s best offense.
