Casey Mize shines in rookie season with Detroit Tigers

On Wednesday, rookie pitcher Casey Mize made his 30th and final start of the season for the Detroit Tigers and if his first full season in the big leagues is any indication, the future is bright for the youngster.

Here are Mize’s stats for his rookie season.

30 Starts

3.71 ERA

1.14 WHIP

118 K

7.1 K/9

2.5 BB/9

150.1 IP

Ever since his first start of the season, Mize has looked like he belongs and he is proud of his accomplishments.

From Detroit News:

“I’m proud of the fact I was able to make 30 starts and pitch 150 innings,” Mize said. “There have been a lot of players in 2020 and 2021 who went down with injuries or missed some time. I am so proud of the fact I was able to avoid the injured list and to be here and provide value.”

“As for my performance, I am honestly proud,” Mize said. “If you said I was going to make 30 starts, go 150 innings and have a 3.7 ERA, I think that’s a win all the way around.”

Nation, it looks like the Tigers have an arm they will be able to rely on for a very long time.
