Could Golden Tate soon return to the Detroit Lions?

UPDATE:

According to a report from Adam Schefter, Golden Tate has been released by the New York Giants.

Original Story:

When Jared Goff first found out that the Los Angeles Rams were trading him to the Detroit Lions, you would have to imagine that he eventually got around to looking at the Lions roster to see what he would be working with on the offensive side of the ball.

You can also imagine that Goff may have had to sit down when he saw that the Lions top three wide receivers from a year ago could all be off the roster by the time the 2021 season rolls around.

That is because Kenny Golladay (could become a FA or signed and traded), Marvin Jones Jr. (will be a free agent), and Danny Amendola (also a free agent) could all be playing elsewhere in 2021.

Because of that, Lions’ new GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell will have to figure out how they want to attack the wide receiver position for the upcoming season. Will they simply add a couple of guys via the 2021 NFL Draft or will they look to bring in free agents? Or, maybe it will be a mix of the two.

If the Lions decide to bring in a cheap free agent, one person to consider is former Lions fan-favorite, Golden Tate, who will reportedly be released by the New York Giants.

Tate, who is now 32, caught 35 passes for 388 yards and two TDs in 12 games (4 starts) with the Giants in 2020.

Nation, if Tate is willing to come back to the Motor City on a team-friendly contract, would you welcome him back?

I dump Petersen, K.Johnson ,Trufant, Coleman Shelton C Jones ,Davis Daniels J.James and NWilliams … I don’t pay Galloday.
We can get WRs in FA Marvin can take a hike too. The Lions need to Pass off the run and not Visa versa . Pairing Swift and Harris together would vastly improve our ground game . The Lions need to be a balanced team.
The history of the Lions was based on the Run Game and good Defense
Parson is the real deal and the players I chose in the other rounds will provide a solid draft class and begin a new day

  2. He’s not coming back. I think Tate wants to win, he’s been in two bad organizations back-to-back. I see him catching along somewhere he could win AND make a decent check. Green Bay seems like an option. Tampa might use him. New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Baltimore. I’d check those guys out before I’d even choose to play here, because we’re likely going to tank this year. I especially don’t think he’d play for Detroit now that the Stafford’s are gone.
