Why the Detroit Lions should go ‘All-in’ and trade for CB Jalen Ramsey

If you are not consistently looking for ways to get better, you will remain right where you are, or worse, you will go backward.

For the Detroit Lions, who are 2-0-1 after their first three games of the season, it’s time to go all-in and make a move that will immediately make them ‘true’ contenders in the NFC.

That move is trading for Jacksonville Jaguars All-Pro cornerback, Jalen Ramsey.

Better Than Expected Start

Heading into the 2019 season, everyone knew the first half of the Lions schedule was going to be extremely difficult to navigate. In fact, many predicted Detroit would get off to a 1-5 start with their only win coming in Week 1 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

As we know, the Lions had the Cardinals right where they wanted them before blowing an 18-point fourth-quarter lead and eventually walking away with a tie.

The Lions could have easily folded after what felt like a loss to a terrible Cardinals team but instead, they bounced back, and though neither game was pretty, they beat the Chargers and Eagles in back to back weeks to move to 2-0-1 on the season.

The question is, with a very difficult 3-game stretch coming up, where do the Lions go from here? Do they rise to the challenge or fall down like they have so many times before?

It’s Time To Go All-In

Though the Lions are one of the only remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, they certainly have plenty of flaws and they have a lot of work to do if they truly want to contend for a playoff berth (or more).

In addition, the Lions may have escaped with a win in Philly in Week 3 but they may have lost a key player along the way as CB Darius Slay was forced to leave the game with a hamstring injury.

At the time of this publishing, there is no word yet as to whether or not Slay will play this coming weekend against Kansas City Chiefs, but even if he does, the Lions could use some help defensively.

That being said, I believe it is time for GM Bob Quinn to go All-In and trade the Jacksonville Jaguars for All-Pro CB, Jalen Ramsey.

By adding Ramsey, the Lions pass defense would automatically become one of the most talented in the NFL and even if Slay is forced to miss time, Ramsey would be an upgrade.

It will likely cost much more than a first-round draft pick, but the Lions have an opportunity to do something special by adding Ramsey to the mix and that is not something they should pass up.
