On Wednesday, the Lions announced they have signed a trio of players to their practice squad while releasing three others.
“Lions have signed LB Trevor Bates, C Leo Koloamatangi and RB Donnel Pumphrey to the team’s practice squad. To make room, team released S Rolan Milligan, LB Darnell Sankey and T Dan Skipper from the practice squad.”

“Bates returns to Detroit after playing in four preseason games in 2018, while recording nine tackles (five solo) and four total special teams tackles during that stint. He originally entered the NFL in 2016 after being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round (239th overall) out of Maine.
After originally signing with the Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Hawaii in 2017, Koloamatangi returns to Detroit after playing in all four preseason games this season. He spent a majority of the 2017 season as a member of the Lions practice squad.
Pumphrey comes to the Lions after entering the NFL in 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent out of San Diego State.”

With the 2018 NFL regular season ready to kickoff, the Detroit Lions made a surprising move on Wednesday. According to reports, the Lions have waived defensive end Anthony Zettel and have claimed defensive end Romeo Okwara off of waivers from the New York Giants.
Okwara, who attended Notre Dame, originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent prior to the 2016 season.
From 2016-2018, Okwara played in 22 games (4 starts), recording 10 tackles and a sack.
