It’s safe to say that former Detroit Lions offensive guard Damien Woody isn’t exactly fond of current head coach Matt Patricia, who is once again facing the wrath of Lions fans following yet another disappointing loss.

In fact, Woody was quick to jump on Patricia’s post-game comments from this afternoon. The embattled coach said that when he arrived in Detroit, there was much work to be done.
“When I came to Detroit, there was a lot of work to do. That’s what we’re trying to do,” Patricia explained during his post-game media session.
Here’s what Woody had to say in response:
Of course, Woody is referring to former Lions coach Jim Caldwell, who was let go by the team despite an overall winning record and leading them to two playoff games.
Unfortunately, Woody’s comment is only half true, as Caldwell did in fact endure a losing season with Detroit, going 7-9 in 2015.
However, Caldwell’s record with Detroit is still vastly superior to Patricia (36-28 for Caldwell vs. 10-21-1 for Patricia). He was let go in favor of Patricia after GM Bob Quinn infamously stated that going 9-7 wasn’t good enough.
A lot of us are wondering what Quinn thinks about that statement coupled with the results that Patricia has delivered so far.
